Anointing of the Sick and Home/Hospital Visitation

Those who are seriously ill need the special help of God’s grace in this time of anxiety. Thus, through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, Christ strengthens the faithful who are afflicted by illness. ...” [Pastoral Care of the Sick, General Instruction]

Our parish communities have dedicated people who regularly visit the housebound and the residents in our local aged care facilities. These visitors not only bring Holy Communion, but also the parishes’ care and concern. Periodically, one of the priests gives the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.

We are concerned that all our housebound parishioners and Catholics in our aged care facilities continue to have access to the Church’s sacramental life. We rely on our parishioners who come to Mass, as well as the families of the sick, to inform the parish office when they know of someone who needs the Sacraments.
