Forgiveness - Reconciliation

In the Parable of the Forgiving Father [the Prodigal Son] in Luke’s Gospel, we are told about the very nature of God. When the father saw his son from a distance “he was moved with compassion” and then he embraced his son and once again claimed him as his own son. God’s nature is one of compassion, justice and forgiveness. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we celebrate God’s compassion as He forgives all our sins. For our part, all we have to do is desire to be forgiven and present ourselves to Him in the Sacrament.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation forgives all the sins we commit after Baptism. Reconciliation, therefore, should become a natural part of our life journey.
